The upgrade of an item allows players to boost the gear score of an item up to 700 and also add a final perk. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory before heading to the kiln.

Items of armor can also be upgraded to improve their effectiveness. This can increase the defense base of a helm or chest, while belts and gloves can boost their strength and agility.
